Air India Flying Crash: Head of Bharatiya Janata (BJP) and former main Minister Gujarat Vijay Rupani, who was on board the air India, bound to London, which crashed near Ahmedabad Airport, died in a tragic accident. Rupani, 68, was headed to London to meet his family.
“Our leader and former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani went to (to London) to meet his family. He is also the victim of this incident. May his soul rest in peace. It is a big loss for BJP,” said the Minister of CR Patil.

Rupani, 68, was between 242 people aboard the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, who hit the residential area in Meghano Nagar on Thursday afternoon.
Who was Vijay Rupani?
Rupani, 16. Main Minister Gujarat for two periods from 2016 to 2021, was born to Mayaben and Ramniklal Rupani in Yangon, Myanmar, Jain Bania. Rupani was the seventh and youngest son of the couple. Rupani’s family moved to Rajkot in 1960 due to political instability in Burma. Rupani studied art at dharmandrasinhji Arts College and Law at Saurashtra University
Rupani was known in Gujarat’s political circles by a well -known BJP leader with a low profile as someone who did not speak much. Rupani entered Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to become the main Minister Gujarat in 2016.
From corporate to cm
Rupani’s political career takes several decades. In 1987 he began as a corporation of the city company Rajkot. He then became the mayor of Rajkota (1996–1997), Rajya Sabha MP (2006–2012) and the Gujarat Cabinet Minister before he became the main minister in 2016.

Rupani worked as activist Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parisad, student wing RSS, during his college days. He was an active participant of the Navnirman movement and was inspired by the anti -Demic movement led by Jai Prakash Narayan. He joined BJP when he was only 24 years old.
In 1975, Rupani was imprisoned in Bhavagar prison after he protested against Indian Gandhi’s need. Rupani is also active Swayam Sevak RSS.
Rupani, a member of the Gujaratian community Jain, worked mostly within the party before won his first elections to the rajkot West in Bypoll in 2014.
Campaign “Khushboo Gujarat ki”
Rupani is also known for its role as the chairman of the Gujarat tourist development corporation in 2006, when the popular campaign “Khushboo Gujarat Ki” representing Amitabh Bachchan was launched. In 2013 he led the financial council Gujarat Municipal.
Rupani was appointed President of BJP in February 2016. After her resignation in August 2016, the patel patel was followed as the main minister.
