
The southwestern monsoon is set to further gain strength with strong westerlies predominant over the kerala and the Lakshadweep area in lower tropospheric levels. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange warning warning of a very strong precipitation for the districts of the barraragod, Kannur, Wayanad and Kozhikode on Friday and the yellow warning of the remaining part of the state of predicting isolated heavy rain.
According to the weather bulletin released on Thursday, above the north coast of Andhra Pradesh and the adjacent South Odisha, the upper air cyclonic circulation over the Bengal Gulf of Westcentral in Bengal. The riverbed also leads from the cyclone circulation through Carnataka via Chhattisgarh, Marathwada and the Karnataka interior between 3.1 km to 5.8 km above the average sea level.
This, along with strong westerlies predominant over Kerala and Lakshadweep at lower tropospheric levels, will launch some intense magic across the state in the next five days, the Bulletin said.
Meanwhile, Kudulu, Muliyar and Bayar in Kasaragod recorded the highest rainfall of 9 cm in 24 hours ending on Thursday 8:30, followed by Palluruothy in Ernacula (8 cm) and Kolam and Kalamassers in Ernacula and Kudungalloor in Thrissur in Thrissur in Thrissur.
The rain is likely to intensify at the weekend and IMD released red alerts for different districts for three days from 14 June. IMD has released a red warning for Kannur and Kanarragod for Kannur and Kajarragod for 14 June, June 15 and three districts on June 16.
Advice to fishermen
IMD also warned against fishing activities along the Keral-Karnataka-Klakshadweep coast from 12 to 16 June with regard to very strong winds and poor weather conditions.
