When the Gruha Jyothi door-to-door survey ended on October 31, around 1,42,978 beneficiaries in the jurisdiction of Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (Bescom) refused to participate in the survey.
Energy Department sources said the beneficiaries refused to provide the documents required for the survey. A total of 73,78,352 houses out of 74,29,773 houses were surveyed in the Bescom jurisdiction. The survey covered consumers under Bhagya Jyothi, Kuteera Jyothi and Amrutha Jyothi schemes.
This represented 99.31% of the total. The other electricity supply companies (Escoms) — Hescom, Gescom, Mescom and CESC — surveyed 98% to 99% of their beneficiaries. The deadline was extended twice, in September and October. The survey began on July 1 and was originally scheduled to end in August.
