Against the background of the recent collapse of a commercial building in the city, a group of graduates from the Government Engineering College (GEC), Thrissur, signed up with a report on the search for reality to face what is called “misleading and damaging” information that improperly imposed a structural engineer in a college.
Several reports have suggested that the collapsed building received a certificate of structural security from the GEC Ministry, but documents and records of inspections reviewed by graduates reveal this statement as incorrect.
According to the team, the building was in fact declared a dangerous member of the Faculty of GEC 17th August 2024 after the site inspection carried out in response to the request of Thrissur Corporation.
The inspection was launched by the incident The previous day when the glass panels from the first floor of the building were broken and falling, which caused a corporation to issue a formal letter requiring urgent assessment.
The inspection report clearly states that the building was not structurally healthy, with the support of technical reasoning. In addition, September 28, during a visit to the lawyer appointed by the court-on the order of the Kerala High Court of 12. September-Stick Member of the GEC Faculty personally repeated that the building is dangerous.
The team said that reports mistakenly referred to a security certificate issued for a neighboring building that was certified as a safe 11 November. It was this certificate that was distorted in public discourse.
The Government Engineering College, Thrissur, has long been justified according to the rules for building Keral to carry out structural evaluation. Members of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, especially those who have postgraduate specialization in structural engineering, regularly served on professional panels formed by the city authorities and even the Kerala High Court.
