Polish manager Michal Probierz resigned after public waste with Captain Robert Lewandowski, who announced that he would no longer play for the national team under the leadership of the probierz.
The dispute was triggered by the debris decision to undress Lewandowski Captain in favor of Napoli’s midfielder Piotr Zielinski. 36 -year -old striker in Barcelona revealed that he received a short phone call from Prosier, while he built his children in bed and shortly thereafter an official announcement of the change appeared on the website of the Polish Football Association (PZPN).
Lewandowski – in an interview for the Polish news store – Polish record goalkeeper with 85 goals in 158 appearances – said he felt frightened and deeply injured the way the decision was communicated.
“After so many years of determination, I believe that I deserved more respect. That should be discussed face to face,” he said.
On Sunday, Lewandowski said he would not return to the national team if Probierz remained in charge. On Tuesday, he also missed the defeat at the World Championship in 2-1 to Finland, and on Friday, their 2-0 friendly victories over Moldavsk and after a long club season quoted physical and mental exhaustion.
Probierz, followed by Fernando Santos as a manager in 2023, led Poland to Euro 2024, but his party became the first team to remove the tournament. Despite this failure, Poland is currently sitting third in Group G from the World Cup qualifiers 2026 with six points out of three matches-the leaders of Finland.
Probierz said in his statement notification of his resignation:
“I came to the conclusion that in the current situation the best decision for the good of the national team is my resignation. Serving as a national coach was fulfilling a lifelong dream and the greatest honor of my professional career.”
The Polish Football Association expressed its gratitude and said:
“The Polish Football Association would like to thank Michal Probierz for their cooperation and determination in the leadership of the national team. We wish him every success in his future efforts.”
The Polish next World Cup qualifier is a demanding accessory against the Netherlands 4 September. With Probierz’s departure and doubt, Lewandowski’s international future faces the national team in the fundamental phase of their qualification campaign a period of uncertainty.
