Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel HD Kumaraswamy on Sunday launched a new watch collection by Hindustan Machine Tools (HMT), named ‘HMT Kannadiga’, on the occasion of the 71st Karnataka Rajyotsava. The watch will soon be available at HMT stores in the city.

Hundreds of people thronged the HMT campus in north Bengaluru. Much to their disappointment, however, the watch was not yet available for purchase. The new collection features four different variants, although the design remains the same. The watch comes with different strap and chain options. To emphasize the essence of the language, the dials are equipped with Kannada numerals. The Gandabherunda emblem emphasizes Kannada pride, while the yellow-red Kannada flag and the series name “HMT Kannadiga” underscore the regional identity.

The watches are estimated to be priced between ₹ 3,500 and ₹ 3,600 respectively, placing them in the premium HMT segment. Meanwhile, images of the watch released on Saturday have been widely shared on social media and among watch lover groups.

According to officials, the watch will be equipped with advanced technology and radio radiation. Strap variants will be equipped with genuine Italian leather straps.
