AP seeks help from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka to restore power to cyclone

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has asked Tamil Nadu and Karnataka for help in mobilizing personnel and machinery to restore electrical infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh in anticipation of the damage caused by Cyclone Murasu.

Mr Naidu spoke to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay and Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Sunday and asked them to extend support by deploying necessary manpower and equipment for restoration work in the cyclone-hit areas. Both the Chief Ministers responded positively and assured him of all possible help.

Mr. Naidu said Andhra Pradesh officials would coordinate with their counterparts in both the states to facilitate deployment of personnel and machinery.

Meanwhile, Telangana electricity department officials are already busy restoring the infrastructure damaged by Cyclone Arnab. The state government has also kept teams that have completed restoration work in the Arnab-affected areas on standby for deployment in the regions likely to be hit by Murasu.

The aim of this step is to ensure the availability of additional manpower and equipment to deal with possible damage to the energy infrastructure, especially the uprooting of electric poles.
