The Apollo Cancer Center, Chennai, launched a new robotic program of pancreatic surgery, which aims to improve the results of patients undergoing comprehensive pancreatic cancer surgery. The start of the program was marked by the successful completion of robotic whiple procedures (pancreatic -sectomy), which are considered the most demanding operations in gastrointestinal oncology.
The operation was performed by a team led by P., a senior consultant and Priya Kapoor, consulting surgical oncology. Using technology using robots, procedures have been performed with accuracy, which has led to a faster recovery. Patients were released within four days without significant postoperative complications.
“The procedure of robotic whipple requires technical expertise and advanced technologies. Successful completion of operations shows the potential of robotic platforms to make complex operations safer and lead to faster recovery in patients,” Venkat.
Pancreatic cancer, which is often diagnosed in later stages, remains an important health problem in India with increasing degrees of occurrence. Dr. Kapoor added: “Robotic surgery offers a minimally invasive approach that allows faster recovery, smaller slices and less complications, which makes it valuable for patients who were previously considered unfit for surgery.”
