After the brutal attack on Class X student M Gopik in front of the students of Zilla Parishad High School in Raptad, a special team of 20 mental health counselors has been set up to support the students who were emotionally disturbed by the incident.
Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh has taken proactive steps to alleviate fear and anxiety among students and restore their mental strength. As part of this, a special team of counselors is personally visiting the homes of 32 students from Class 10 ‘A’ – where the incident took place – to speak to both the students and their parents.
They are also planning to visit the homes of all female students in grades 8, 9 and 10 and provide them with the necessary advice. Counselors strive to help students overcome fear and anxiety and allow them to return to school with renewed confidence.
The Ministry of Education has taken measures to ensure ongoing support and enable students to focus on their studies without any sense of fear.
It may be recalled that the youth attacked Gopika with a chainsaw, causing serious injuries to both the latter and other female students of the class.
