BRS blames the government. an attempt to evict 4,000 families in favor of a real estate agency

HYDERABAD

A Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) team led by former minister and deputy leader of the legislature party T. Harish Rao on Saturday toured Seven Hills, Western Meadows and other colonies in Narsingi in Gandipet mandal, through which a 100-feet road is planned.

During the visit, Mr. Rao was accompanied by another former minister and floor deputy leader P. Sabitha Indra Reddy, legislators D. Sudheer Reddy and Dasoju Sravan, Rajendranagar BRS leader P. Karthik Reddy and others. They inspected the red marking done by HMDA officials for the existing road widening and spoke to the affected families.

Family members living there said their buildings have been marked for demolition despite having all permits and certificates of occupancy. While interacting with the residents, Mr. Rao said that the government should work for the people and not for one builder, one contractor or the private interest of a few.

In 2013, this 100-feet long road was laid out in the master plan and this route cut through the hillock here and demolished the 400-year-old Hanuman temple that stands on it. After the BRS came to power in 2018, it issued a new gazette, GO No. 181, which kept the 100-foot road exactly as it was – but curved it around the temple with open land beside it.

BRS leaders T. Harish Rao and P. Sabitha Indra Reddy spoke to residents of Hyderabad’s Narsingi area on Saturday.

“We changed it because there was public interest. The historic temple was saved and not a single household lost an inch. Now there is no public interest in the gazette of 2026. About 4,000 families in about 2,000 flats have been made to suffer,” Mr. Rao said.

Mr. Rao alleged that this was done for the benefit of ‘one Radha Realtor’, whose proximity to the powers that be is known. He said changing the master plan would require notification, consultation and public hearing. But none of that happened.
