A comprehensive plan was sought for 49 projects under the Visakha Economic Region

District Collector M. Abhishikth Kishore on Friday directed Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) officials to prepare a comprehensive implementation plan for 49 projects proposed under the Visakha Economic Region (VER).

The direction was issued during a preparatory meeting held at the Collectorate ahead of the review of the economic area by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on June 2. Officials of VMRDA, Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), Tourism Department, Revenue Department and IT consultants attended the meeting.

The Collector said VMRDA as the nodal agency for the VER initiative should work closely with GVMC, tourism and other departments to finalize the development plan. He emphasized the need to expedite the ongoing plan for Visakha Bay City, a key component of the VER project.

Mr. Kishore also called for identification of suitable land required for the proposed development. Discussions focused on a range of projects including theme park, IT and data centres, road connectivity, infrastructure development, layout, housing requirements and airport connectivity.

He directed officials to incorporate these components in a detailed and coordinated development plan to be submitted before the chief minister’s review.

Joint Collector G. Vidhyadhari, Metropolitan Commissioner Tej Bharat, RDO Sangeeth Madhur and officials from VMRDA, GVMC, Tourism and Industries Departments were present.
