A 38-year-old man accused of secretly filming a female passenger in Bengaluru’s Namma Metro has been questioned by Bengaluru police, who have seized his mobile phone for judicial examination.

According to the police, the accused Santosh denied the allegations and recorded his statement at the Kadugodi police on October 29. Police said Santosh lives in Nagarabhavi and travels to Whitefield where he works in a private company. The alleged shooting took place near the Pattandur Agrahara metro station. The police conducted a mahazar at the metro station.

A police officer investigating the case told The Hindu that the accused was granted anticipatory bail but the judge ordered him to cooperate with the investigation.

“We interrogated him and asked him about the video and he showed us that he has no such video on his mobile phone. We will summon him again once the report arrives,” the officer said.

The case came to light after the woman took to social media to describe the incident. A complaint was subsequently filed. The accused was booked under Section 78 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with persecution.
