Civic group Citizens for Democracy held a mock parliament on Friday (October 30, 2026) on the theme “Democracy vs Anarchy”. Issues like SIR of electoral rolls, EVMs, role of Election Commission, ‘vote chori’ allegations and recent protests were discussed.
The event was organized along with a mock session of Parliament which was scheduled to be held on Friday at the residence of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, but was postponed to Saturday.
Young participants took on the roles of prominent political leaders to discuss recent political developments. They held parliamentary proceedings, portrayed leaders from both the ruling party and the opposition, and presented different perspectives. Discussions also focused on the difference between democratic dissent and anarchy.
Participants discussed issues ranging from the independence and credibility of democratic institutions, parliamentary decorum, political accountability and transparency of the electoral process to the role of protests in democracy.
