The Congress on Friday (Oct 30, 2026) accused BJP leaders of “normalising” Chinese trespasses along the Arunachal Pradesh border after Chief Minister Pema Khandu said such incidents were “still happening” and were nothing new.

Congress general secretary in charge of communications Jairam Ramesh said Mr Khanda’s remarks contradicted his earlier dismissal of reports of Chinese incursions in Taksing and came a week after the head of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) confirmed face-offs at several locations in the northeastern state, some of which were ongoing.

“Treat it like normal”

“So much for the Prime Minister’s ‘na koi ghusa hai’ (nobody entered). And what’s worse, he takes it for granted,” Mr Ramesh said in a post on X, referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s earlier claim after the Galwan clash that no one entered Indian territory.

The Congress leader said it was worrisome that the Chief Minister was attributing the offenses to the absence of a clearly defined boundary. “Instead of advancing India’s position, BJP leaders are rationalizing China’s actions. There is nothing normal about this. This is the new abnormality,” he said.

He also cited reports of Chinese PLA camps on the Indian side and the loss of patrol posts, accusing the Modi government of maintaining a “deafening silence” over the ongoing face-off.

Mr. Khandu said the situation along the border was normal and that Indian forces were guarding it effectively. He admitted that there had been violations and cited the absence of a demarcated border along the nearly 1,200 km border.
