Two Telangana distribution companies have sent emergency supplies along with nearly 2,000 employees to help restore power to Cyclone Arnab-hit areas in neighboring Andhra Pradesh at the state’s request.
Several teams of power personnel from Telangana were dispatched to the cyclone-hit areas on Tuesday along with some emergency supplies needed to restore power supply. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Power Minister G. Ravi Kumar spoke to their Telangana counterparts A. Revanth Reddy and M. Bhatti Vikramarka over phone on Tuesday, seeking help in restoring power supply.
It was explained that more than 16,000 electric poles fell due to the cyclone in Anakapalli, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Eluru, NTR, Guntur, Pravathipuram, Alluri Sitaramaraju and several other districts. AP has the help of men and material from Telangana for the restoration work.
After receiving instructions from Mr. Vikramarka, TGSPDCL and TGNPDCL Chairman and CEOs Jitesh V. Patil and K. Varun Reddy deputed a team from their respective Discoms to AP along with some material. While SPDCL is sending over 1,300 of its employees, NPDCL is sending nearly 650 employees along with emergency vehicles, battery-powered tree pruners and other equipment.
