Ukrainian President Volodymyr said Zelena that his country is ready to agree to a ceasefire – but only if Russian President Vladimir Putin stops aggression. Zelena accused Putin of focusing on the “complete defeat” of Ukraine and urging the US to increase their efforts to mediate peace.
When he spoke to ABC News, Zelena expressed the willingness of Ukraine to suspend hostility.
“We are ready to put our hands without conditions – if it is also Russia,” he said in an interview.
He said Ukraine would even give up the security guarantees from the US, which instead of NATO membership has long demanded in exchange for a 30 -day stop of hostility.
“Putin is a murderer”
He strongly criticized the intentions of the Russian leader and compared the invasion with the massacre.
“We are not children with Putin on the playground in the park,” he said Zelena. “That’s why I say he’s a murderer who came to this park to kill the children.”
“I feel strong that Putin doesn’t want to complete this war. In his mind it is impossible to end this war without the fulfillment of Ukraine.”
We can stop the war, says greenish
The Ukrainian President insisted that the US kept the key to stopping war.
“I am convinced that the United States President has all powers and enough leverage to intensify,” The News Outlet said.
“People probably don’t realize it,” he added. “He must understand that we are under the attack, every day.”
He said that US President Trump has a global influence to combine European allies for a unified pressure campaign on the Kremlin.
“Everyone (European leaders) look at President Trump as the leaders of the free world … and waiting for him,” he said.
“Only a hard pressure stops Putin”
He claimed that Putin would only agree with peace if he faced violent diplomatic and military opposition.
“Only hard pressure from the US and allies can do Putin pragmatic,” ABC said.
“Then he stops the war.”
He noted that Russia had previously bombed during the expected “temporary income”.
SPIDERWEB OPERATION AND KREML’S RESURE
The interview came only a few days after Ukraine launched the Spiderweb operation, a courageous military strike that allegedly rattled Russian infrastructure.
The Kremlin condemned the attack as a “terrorist act”, but Zelenkyy rejected the accusation.
“It’s a clean and clear military operation,” he said. “It’s a step that showed everyone that we don’t want this war. We don’t want to fight.”
“We understand the Russians better”
He emphasized the historical acquaintance of Ukraine with Russia, suggesting that Western leaders will not fully understand Moscow.
“Believe me, we understand the Russians much better … than the Americans understand the mentality of the Russians. We are neighbors for ages,” he said.
Talks from the ceasefire continue in uncertainty
While the US conducted bilateral interviews with Ukraine and Russia and the delegations recently met in Istanbul, Zelsky signaled deep skepticism about any real Russian interest in peace.
“We really don’t know if it stops this war,” he said. “We have to prepare such plans and not stop.”
