Nazma Khan sent Jemimah an Insta DM about her dream. He is now under contract with WPL

Jemimah Rodrigues was about to write to Nazma Khan when she stumbled upon a message sent to her by the jack-of-all-trades a year ago. Back then, Nazma talked about her dream of acting alongside her idol. On Wednesday, that dream moved a step closer to reality after Delhi Capitals signed her for Rs 10 crore in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2027 mini-auction.

Jemimah shared a screenshot of the old message on her Instagram story, revealing how she came across it when she opened the app to send a message to her new Delhi Capitals teammate.

Nazma talked about wanting to share the field with Jemimah and be part of a team that could win together. She also hoped that the Indian batter would see her message one day. A year later, both would be part of the same WPL franchise.

For Jemimah, finding the message just as Nazma became her teammate made the signing extra special. What started as a wish sent on Instagram returned to the limelight as the two cricketers were set to share a dressing room.

Delhi Capitals also shared the exchange on social media and encouraged fans to keep believing in their dreams.

“Remind yourself that manifestation works. Keep trying. Never stop believing. Everything will work out in the end,” the franchise wrote.

BIG CAPITAL SIGNING BY FOUR PLAYERS AT WPL AUCTION

Delhi Capitals have signed four players in the WPL 2027 mini-auctionpicking up Kiran Navgire for Rs 75 crore and signing Nazma Khan, Kashvi Kandikuppa and Kirstie Gordon from Scotland for Rs 10 crore each.

The franchise heads into the new season with the goal of ending a streak of four consecutive runner-up finishes. Delhi have reached the finals in all editions of the WPL so far but are yet to win the title.

Jemimah will lead a team that includes established names such as Shafali Verma, Marizanne Kapp, Annabel Sutherland and Laura Wolvaardt. Gordon adds another overseas rotation option, while the Indian signings provide further depth.

Delhi did not sign a specialist wicket keeper in the auction, so Madiwala Mamatha was their only wicket option in the team.
