Carla Hayden, the first woman and an African American to serve as an American librarian of Congress, revealed that she had no direct contact with Trump in May.
“No one spoke to me from the White House at all,” Hayden told Robert Costa. “I didn’t get any communication directly, with the exception of one e -mail. That’s the only communication,” Hayden said in an exclusive interview with CBS News.
UNCEREMONIOUS FULL FULL MAKE MAXE
Hayden described the sudden way in which it was removed from his post, which she held since 2016 after her named President Barack Obama and confirmed by the Senate. On May 8, she received a short e -mail with the introduction: “Carla, on behalf of President Donald J Trump, I write to inform you that your position of the Congress librarian is immediately terminated. Thank you for your service.”
Asked if her tenure really ended “One Missive, which is electronic,” she confirmed, “That was it.” Hayden added, “I have never been informed in advance and then.”
The White House quotes the diversity policy as a reason
Trump’s administration justified the release partly over Hayden’s commitment to efforts for diversity, justice and inclusion (DEI) in the congress library. Karoline Leavitt, the printing of the White House, said on May 10: “She did in the Congress library in an effort to dei and took place in the children’s library.”
Leitt added: “She was removed from her position and the president is within his rights.”
Conservative criticism
Hayden faced political pressure from the conservative attorney of the American Accoubility Foundation (AAF), accusing her and other leaders of the library of the promotion of children’s books with “radical content” and literature against President Trump. The clock before the AAF’s announcement called Hayden “Awakened” and “Anti-Trump” on his X Account and demanded: “It’s time to get her out.”
Heritage and the role of the Congress Librarian
As the Hayden Congress librarian, he supervised the management and policy for the largest library of the nation, which serves the Congress and the public with extensive collections of books, historical papers, rare artifacts and archives of presidential and highest court documents.
Its removal refers to one of the several release of federal officials perceived as Trump’s agenda during its second term.
