Before the monsoon officially arrived in the West Bengal, they cause bad road conditions in rural areas to be commuting throughout the state and are accused of losing life in several districts.
On June 6, a woman in Medinipur’s Paschi lost her husband after an ambulance could not enter her village because of bad roads, forcing them to carry him on a makeshift crib. The condition of the man was getting worse and died on his way to the hospital.
The deceased family Badal Mandi tried to cover the damaged section of the road on the crib and tried to convert it into the car when he succumbed.
His wife, Putul Mandi, attributed the death of her husband to poor road conditions. “There was no transport, we had to put it in the crib and transport it. There are so many slippery mud on the road that motor vehicles cannot enter the area,” she said. She also claimed that the residents of the locality are left without the possibility of using a temporary arrangement during medical emergencies.

However, local administration officials argue that they claim that the conditions on the road are not as bad as mentioned. “This road has always run quads. It is not true that the road conditions are bad. It is a clay road, thanks to the rains it has become muddy, but the ambulance cannot enter, is not true.
Dilapidated roads over rural Bengal

May 25, a man on a bike in the Asansol region in the cult of Asansol, fell into a water ditch dug up for road repairs and died in autumn. The locals accused the authorities of delays of road repairs and neglecting the maintenance of infrastructure.
Two weeks earlier, Sonarpur residents in the south 24 Parganas protested and blocked roads requiring urgent repair of dangerous roads.
Party’s state president Bharatiya Janata and Member Majumdar criticized the state government and said: “Investing in investment in West Bengal infrastructure in investment in infrastructure is less … The economy is down.”
In response to Congress spokesman Trinamool and former MP Kunal Ghosh attributed problems with continuous rain, but argued that the government is tirelessly working on repairs and construction. “The Union government does not issue our funds,” Mr. Ghosh said.
The main Minister Mamata Baerjee gave similar concerns after the state budget 2025-26 in the legislative assembly. In an interview with the media, she said that funds for main programs such as MGNGA, rural roads and rural housing were detained by the center, but the state government would continue to expenditure on social sector programs despite challenges.
During the 12th February budget, the state government assigned 1,500 GBP Crore to improve rural roads within the Pathasree system.
