The complaint accuses the activist and six others of assaulting migrant workers in Hulimangala

A complaint has been lodged with the Karnataka Home Minister and the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner accusing right-wing activist Nagendra and six others of trespassing into a migrant worker settlement in Hulimangal and assaulting women and men after they demanded identity documents.

In a complaint to the Home Minister and Commissioner of Police, Syed Imtiyaz, a migrant worker and a resident of Hulimangala, alleged that Dr. Nagendra and six others arrived in two cars between 4pm and 5pm on Wednesday and entered the premises, demanding identity proofs and other documents. The complaint also alleges that the group demanded between ₹5 lakh and ₹6 lakh.

According to the complainant, the residents cooperated and submitted the required documents, but the group allegedly assaulted the women and four young men, accused them of being illegal immigrants, and left them injured and traumatized.

The complainant said the police were immediately alerted. The seven alleged attackers reportedly tried to flee after learning that the police had been called, but local residents detained them and prevented them from leaving.

Imtiyaz sought urgent intervention of the Home Minister and Police Commissioner and demanded action against Dr. Nagendra and six other alleged attackers and measures to ensure the safety of the affected families.

Dr. Nagendra was reportedly earlier charged in a similar case in Whitefield involving the assault of migrant workers suspected of being illegal immigrants.
