A 55 -year -old woman was killed in a collision between two -round and SUVs in the village of Arasur near Vandavasi at Chetpet Koot Road on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as B. Jothi, 55, from the city of Arani. According to the initial investigation, Jothi and her husband, S. Bal, 58 years, farmer, they rode on two -round rounds of houses after they participated in a funeral near Vandavasi, when their vehicle hit the SUV driven by S. Karthik of Chennai, who lost control of the vehicle.
The police said Karthik was returning to Chennai along with three of his family members when the accident occurred. Balu and Jothi were thrown out of the vehicle. Jothi died on the spot while the others including Balu and Karthik were injured.
Other motorists and passers -by rescued injured people. They also pointed out the Ponnur’s police, who plunged into the place. The injured persons were adopted at the Taluk Government Hospital in Vandavas before being transferred to the Government Medical College Hospital in Chengalpath, where their state was stable. A case was registered. The probe is running.
