The state unit of the Students’ Federation of India staged a protest outside the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) office here on Tuesday (October 28, 2026) demanding immediate completion of certificate verification for contract lecturers appointed as regular lecturers.

The protesters demanded a transparent verification process, a comprehensive investigation into alleged irregularities and strict action against private junior schools that violate government regulations.

The protest comes amid allegations of irregularities and corporate favoritism in the secondary education system. Last week, the board denied the allegations, saying student safety and legal compliance were priorities.

TGBIE recently said that inspections have identified 65 colleges that allegedly submitted fake Fire Safety Certificates (NOCs). The company also said it had imposed fines of over ₹4 million on corporate colleges for various violations between July and October this year.

SFI leaders demanded accountability and enforcement of the council’s regulations.
