Drought induced by Congress, not forced by nature: KTR
HYDERABAD
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao blamed the Congress government for the drought in the state because the A. Reventha Reddy government did not take appropriate measures to avoid the severity of the drought in time, including not starting the engines of the Kannepally pumping station of the Kaleshwaram project.
Addressing a party meeting here on Tuesday, he called the drought conditions “Congress-induced, not nature or El Nino.” He claimed that it was not a drought caused by nature but one forced on the people by the Revanth Reddy government.
The government was unmoved by the plight of the people and farmers with the lack of water for drinking and irrigation needs and the erratic supply of energy to agriculture and other sectors. There was plenty of water in the rivers, but the Congress government allowed it to flow down to Andhra Pradesh by not starting the engines of the Kaleshwaram and Palamuru-Rangareddy projects.
He reiterated that starting the engines of the Kannepally pumping station was very possible without even closing the gates of the Medigadda Dam as there was enough flow in the river, even in a free-flowing condition, to power the engines and lift the water to fill all the reservoirs and irrigation tanks connected to the project canal systems.
Mr. Rama Rao said the people of Telangana had been badly let down by the Congress as it failed to keep most of the promises made before the Assembly elections. People believed in false promises now and repented and were waiting for elections to return KCR as chief minister again, he said adding that the value of light will be known a lot only in darkness.
The BRS leader alleged that Telangana has become a platform for exploitation for the Congress Party led by Mr. Revanth Reddy as he has focused on keeping the party’s national leadership in Delhi in good spirits by supporting the party’s financial needs from the state.
Meet at Nirmal
As part of strengthening the BRS in Nirmal constituency and district, the party is planning a public meeting there on November 11 as the party still has many leaders supporting it even though some who enjoyed power left it after losing the 2023 elections, Mr. Rama Rao told party leaders.
