The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) has so far allotted land to 114 institutions in Amaravati covering a total area of 1,269 acres.
The details were discussed in a meeting of the cabinet sub-committee on Amaravati land allocation held online on Friday.
Ministers P. Narayana (MA&UD), P. Keshav (Finance), TG Bharath (Industries), K. Durgesh (Tourism), K. Ravindra (Mines) and G. Sandhya Rani (Women and Child Welfare) attended the meeting. CRDA Commissioner V. Vijay Rama Raju attended an online review meeting on land allotments in Amaravati.
Addressing the media at the Secretariat, Mr. Narayana said the allotted institutions include 70 government and 44 private organizations. These are 16 banks, 8 housing projects for bank employees, 22 educational institutions, 13 state government organizations, 17 central government institutions, 7 medical facilities, 14 hotels, two sports bodies and five others.
The minister said that 20 institutions have started construction and nine have completed their projects. Another 18 were in the payment phase, 25 in the agreement phase and 38 in the proposal phase.
He said that three institutions — GRT Hotels, Splendor and Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) — had withdrawn from the allotted plots for various reasons. According to him, IRCTC canceled its allotment following a political decision not to undertake new construction projects.
Mr. Narayana said 16 institutions have already applied for land allocation, which will be processed through Expression of Interest (EOI) or Request for Proposal (RfP) mechanisms.
“No shortage of diesel”
Dismissing fears of a global fuel supply disruption, the minister said no shortage of diesel is affecting construction work in Amaravati as contractors have ensured uninterrupted supply for heavy machinery.
He also revealed that some film personalities from Mumbai, including an actor, have shown interest in allotment of land in Amaravati. However, he said the government scrutinizes detailed project reports (DPRs), financial statements and balance sheets before approving allocations to avoid stalling of projects due to financial constraints.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, Mr. Narayana said the development of Amaravati would continue uninterrupted in line with the aspiration of thousands of farmers who had contributed land to the pooling scheme.
