Foreign Ministers of Central Asian countries on Friday (June 6, 2025) “clearly condemned” the terrorist attack in Pahalgam and told their “firm commitment” to fight terrorism.
The general position against terrorism was achieved during the Indian Center of Asia, chaired by the Minister of External Affairs S. Jaishankar. He acknowledged that the countries of Central Asia have spread to India after a terrorist attack in Pahalgam 22 April. He also called on the region to work for “greater financial connectivity” with India.
“They reaffirmed their firm commitment to fight terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, and repeated that the provision of safe refuge, the use of terrorist representatives for cross -border terrorism, terrorist financing, weapons and drug trafficking, radical ideology and abuse. At the meeting, India supported Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan membership in INSC.
“Ministers emphasized the importance of greater financial connectivity between India and Central Asian countries, including digital payment systems, reinforced interbank relations and national currencies to support larger trade, investment, tourism and people exchange,” he said. He also expressed interest in the joint examination of rare and critical minerals and called on the participating countries to organize a second meeting in India-Central Asia rare soil “at the closest comfort”.

Previously, inaugurating dialogue, Mr. Jaishankar described India as a “trusted development partner” of Central Asia. Mr. Jaishankar emphasized business and investments, defense, agro processing, textiles, drugs, regional interconnection, safety, education, culture, exchanges between people as an area where bilateral cooperation will increase in the coming period.
“India remains all the trustworthy partner of development for you. Together with ITEC (Indian technical and economic cooperation) ICCR training and scholarships, which are the most famous forms of our development partnership, have also started to provide projects of communities with high impact communities such as Indian grants for socio -economic development,” Jaishankar said.
