BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran on Tuesday (October 27, 2026) urged the Tamil Nadu government to repair the potholes at the Palar Bridge in Sevilimedu near Kancheepuram and conduct a safety assessment of the structure alleging administrative negligence.

In a post on social media, Mr Nagenthran said the dangerous potholes on the bridge posed a risk to school children and members of the public. He also alleged that the bridge was shaking dangerously when heavy vehicles passed over it and claimed that the TVK-led government had failed to act despite repeated complaints.

The BJP leader slammed Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, alleging that his government has failed to ensure even basic safety of public transport infrastructure despite its promises of change and new policies.
