Telangana government would build indiramma houses in ground plus-ti-storey buildings for the poor in 16 slums across Hyderabad. A similar procedure is formulated for other districts. People did not want to move to the houses built on the outskirts of the capital because they would lose their living. Given the decision on the construction of houses in locations, the Minister of Income Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said.
In addition to Hyderabad, it would be implemented in Warangal, Nizamabad, Mahbubnagar, Nalgonda, Karimnagar and other urban sites.
Although 42,000 houses were built from Hyderabad, only 19,000 decided to occupy them. The recent field inspection revealed that only 13,000 live there, Mr. Reddy said at an inspection meeting in Indiramma houses held on Friday (June 6, 2025). The focus of the houses has shifted the poor in urban sites after the system was more efficient in a rural telangana.
Approximately 10.71 Lakh applications for houses were received from 150 divisions in larger Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). It was found that about seven lamps were eligible for houses.
