Mumbai local train services hit by hanging OHE wire; The main line of the Central Railway was interrupted | Today’s news

Local train services on Mumbai’s suburban network were disrupted during the morning rush hour on Monday after a wire was found hanging from the Overhead Equipment (OHE) between Mulund and Thane stations, officials said.

Commuters have complained that suburban services on the main line of the Central Railway are running at least 15 to 20 minutes late due to the problem.

The “foreign wire” was detected at 9:23 am on the slow line at a distance of 31.146 kilometers from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) station, Central Railway (CR) public relations director Swapnil Nila said.

This prompted the CR to grant a top gear block at 10am to facilitate the necessary action, he said.

Local train services, considered Mumbai’s lifeline, were delayed.

CR’s main line connects CSMT in South Mumbai with Kalyan in Thane district, where the route splits into two corridors – one going to Kasara in Thane and the other to Khopoli in Raigad district.
