The Enforcement Directorate continued its search for the family of Tamil Nadu Local Government Minister and senior DMK leader KN Nehru for the second day on Tuesday (April 8, 2025), with the Central Investigation Agency taking his businessman brother KN Ravichandran to its office for questioning, official sources said.
The event started on Monday (April 7, 2025) across several locations in Chennai, Tiruchirappalli and Coimbatore.
The searches are continuing and Mr. Ravichandran has been taken to the ED office in Chennai to record his statement, sources said.
The probe is into an alleged ₹22 crore bank loan fraud linked to a real estate entity named TVH Group promoted by Mr. Ravichandran, sources said earlier.
The CBI filed an FIR in this case in 2021.
The premises of the minister, whose son Arun Nehru is a member of the Lok Sabha, were also included in the searches.
The ED is also probing the loan funds which, according to sources, were allegedly channeled into a trust “controlled” by the family. They said some other financial transactions and “complaints” lodged against the property group are under the agency’s scanner.
The probe-related premises in Tiruchirappalli, the hometown of Mr KN Nehru, were covered on Monday (April 7, 2025).
Responding to the search, Tamil Nadu Law Minister S. Regupathy on Monday (April 7, 2025) slammed the BJP-led central government, claiming that “ED is an ally of the BJP, as are the parties of Chandrababu Naidu (TDP) and Nitish Kumar (JD-U)”.
“We consider the ED as its (BJP’s) ally and nothing more,” Mr Regupathy told reporters, calling the agency a “non-political partner”.
