Two persons arrested in Ranipet for stealing two-wheelers

The Thimiri police on Sunday arrested two persons for stealing two-wheelers in Vellore, Ranipet and Tiruvannamalai districts.

The arrested persons have been identified as M. Dhanasekaran, 48, and R. Arumugam, 42. They are residents of Ranipet. The police seized 12 two-wheelers from them.

Initial investigations revealed that the duo stole parked two-wheelers at temple festivals, hospitals, banks, markets and government offices. Based on the complaints of the affected persons, Superintendent of Police Ranipet P. Sibin formed special teams to nab the duo.

Police arrested the pair during a surprise vehicle inspection. The stolen two-wheelers were kept in disrepair before being sold at low prices without documents.

Each stolen two-wheeler was sold for ₹5,000 to ₹10,000. A case was registered and they were later lodged in Vellore Central Jail. A probe is underway.
