Stalin urges DMK cadres to prepare for an early ouster of the TVK-led government in Tamil Nadu

DMK president MK Stalin on Sunday (Oct 25, 2026) wondered whether the TVK-led government in Tamil Nadu headed by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay would last even six months and urged his party workers to be ready to unseat the government.

Speaking at a wedding event in Chennai, Mr Stalin said that when the DMK-led alliance won the 2021 assembly elections and he took charge as Chief Minister, he told reporters that his government would ensure good governance, that even those who did not vote for the alliance would regret not voting for it. However, he said today that those who voted for TVK regretted their decision.

“Every day under this government, the newspapers carry reports of rising prices of basic commodities, administrative failures, sexual offences, murders and robberies. On the one hand, there are power cuts, while on the other hand, there have been reports of kidnapped children for the last five or six days,” he said.

He said the government had created a special unit called the Singappen Special Force. “Now a situation has arisen where additional forces need to be created to protect the Singappen Special Force,” he said.

Referring to Mr. Vijay’s rhetoric during the 2026 election campaign that the electoral battle was between only two parties – TVK and DMK – Mr. Stalin said that after the TVK-led government came to power, the contest had become a battle between power interruption and murder. “But now the situation has turned into a battle between sexual violence and narcotics. The people of Tamil Nadu must have clearly understood who is the real evil force,” Stalin said.

“I said this government will last only six months. Now the situation has reached a point whether this government will last six months at all,” Mr. Stalin said, urging DMK cadres to prepare to oust the government.
