Who is Ravi Tamta? Uttarakhand man develops electric flying car in Almora; check his other inventions | Today’s news

Ravi Tamta is an innovator from Kaflikhan village near Jageswar Dham in Almora, Uttarakhand. He spent 13 years developing an electric flying car called the HAPIDA SKYNeX. Its aim is to facilitate travel through the mountains, especially during medical emergencies.

Tamta grew up in the hills and understood the difficulties caused by winding roads. It could take hours to get to the hospital, even though the distance seemed short. He wondered if people could travel by air without being dependent on roads, The Better India reported.

This question encouraged him to develop a vehicle that did not need an airport or runway. HAPIDA SKYNeX can take off and land vertically, similar to a drone.

The prototype completed its first test flight in August from the army heliport in Almora. He stayed in the air for almost one minute, which marked an important achievement for Tamta.

Tamta had no engineering degree or access to an advanced laboratory. He learned through the Internet, through repeated experiments and with the support of his parents. Over the years, these efforts helped turn his idea into a working prototype. He developed the vehicle through his venture Hapida Sky Private Limited, according to The Better India.

How does the vehicle work?

The vehicle uses multiple electric motors and propellers mounted on arms protruding from its body. Together they lift it, keep it hanging and help control movement.

It has a light frame, space for one pilot and a transparent cover. Its motors are powered by batteries, so it produces no direct exhaust emissions during operation.

Tamta hopes the vehicle could eventually shorten journeys through challenging mountain routes. A 40-km road trip that takes around 90 minutes can take 10-15 minutes by air, The Better India reported.

However, this remains a goal and has not been proven in normal travel. Its actual flight distance will depend on battery capacity, weight and power requirements.

A successful test does not mean that the vehicle is ready for passenger service. More testing is needed to check handling, battery performance, robustness and fail-safe. Mountain weather, strong winds, landing areas and emergency measures will also require attention.

Innovations by Ravi Tamta

Ravi Tamta’s achievements go beyond his flying car project. His earlier inventions include shoes that charge cell phones while someone walks. He also developed a smart walking stick for the visually impaired.

Other creations include a bamboo splitting machine and firefighting equipment. These inventions reflect his interest in finding practical answers to everyday problems.

For now, HAPIDA SKYNeX represents the first step towards Tamta’s bigger dream. It could ultimately help people get to hospitals and remote locations faster.

Further work remains essential. His journey shows how local difficulties can inspire ambitious ideas through patient learning and experimentation.
