Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Friday asked the central government to clarify the location of Chinese troops that have infiltrated Arunachal Pradesh, as well as incidents where Indian security forces were stopped from patrolling and some citizens were restricted.
Mr. Owaisi’s statement came after Shatrujeet Kapur, director of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, said that “encroachments have taken place at several places in Arunachal” and that they are continuing.
He criticized the Narendra Modi-led government for keeping the public “in the dark”, stressing that developments along the border were “extremely worrying”. “The country also needs to know how many months this has been going on and why the government has been friendly to China during this period. Is the @narendramodi government even capable of defending and securing Indian territory?” published.
All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president reiterated that he had raised the issue of border violations several times in the past and alleged that the Center was not transparent about the incidents.
“There is no debate in Parliament, no questions are allowed, Prime Minister Modi does not hold a press conference and when he spoke, as in June 2020, he claimed that there were no Chinese in Indian territory. This was of course not true or factual,” he said.
He called for an independent and comprehensive assessment of the border situation, as well as the convening of a special session of parliament to discuss the government’s policy stance towards China.
“The least this country deserves is truth, honesty and political accountability on such crucial issues that affect India’s territorial integrity,” he said.
