‘Saifu Ko Ghee Do’: How Saif Ali Khan’s viral KBC moment became a massive, unsponsored ad for Gowardhan | Today’s news
Actor Saif Ali Khan unwittingly became the internet’s favorite meme after his viral reaction to Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) winning a two-year supply of ghee.
“That’s it; that’s why I came,” Saif declared excitedly in the viral clip as his co-host Akshay Kumar laughed.
Saif’s confession of love for ghee also made it to The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix, where he appeared with wife Kareena Kapoor Khan. The host, Kapil Sharma, reminded the actor that he won two years’ worth of ghee – and that people on the internet believe that’s what prompted him to join Instagram.

‘Danedar Ghee’ promise for Saif
A viral exchange unfolded on Kaun Banega Crorepati when host Amitabh Bachchan informed guests Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar that if they answered the tenth question correctly, they would win a two-year supply of Gowardhan ghee.
Saif’s response was immediate. He exclaimed, “Wow, what?” and he seemed visibly pleased at the prospect. As Bachchan repeated the details of the award, the actor made his priorities clear for all to see, while Akshay couldn’t stop laughing.
The two stars’ contrasting reactions to the same award took the internet by storm. Saif’s genuine enthusiasm for a common household item like danedaar (grainy) ghee made for an unexpectedly interesting television moment. Rather than a carefully crafted brand endorsement, it was his authentic response that resonated with the audience.

Non-sponsored ad for Gowardhan Ghee
For Gowardhan, a dairy brand from Parag Milk Foods, Saif’s candid humor has turned into free advertising. Thanks to Saif, netizens said that Gowardhan has become their top ghee brand.
The KBC episode also serves as a curious case study of how television integration transcends the original broadcast and can easily become a recognizable pop culture reference.
A clip of Saif’s reaction went viral as users joked that Saif was a “Gen Z born at the wrong time”.
No ghee for Saif?
Nawab, who is now the “true ambassador of ghee” on the internet, clarified that he did not get the ghee he was promised.
This happened after Kapil Sharma read a comment on Instagram when Kareena teased her husband.
“I just want to make one thing clear. I haven’t even received the ghee yet,” he joked, adding that his check hadn’t arrived either.
This latest Saif-ghee episode has given social media fresh meme material and the original clip of the KBC episode has started doing the rounds again.

Gowardhan joins the conversation
Gowardhan watched the moment go viral on social media and immediately joined in!
As netizens continued to question the brand of Saif’s ghee, which was yet to be delivered, Gowardhan started responding with comments like, “If he follows us, we can send him ghee”.
Their own social posts also became an extension of the joke as dedicated netizens took to the comments section asking Gowardhan to send Saif his promised stash. Some even joked that they would only buy the product when the actor got his.
‘Saifu Ko Ghee Do’
The joke now has its own fan base with several dedicated Instagram pages like gheeonsaifside, ghee_protest_for_saif and others campaigning to secure his promised reward.
“Saifu ko Ghee Do, Ghee Do,” is Gen Z’s latest motto and the entire internet is rallying its support for the cause, clamoring for the actor to finally get his two-year supply of ghee.
In another recent interview with Brut, Saif mentioned missing Gowardhan’s ghee and joked that he still hasn’t received the award he won at KBC.
