R. Senthamil Selvan is the new Chairman of the Scheduled Caste Department of the TNCC

The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) has appointed R. Senthamil Selvan as its Scheduled Caste (SC) department president, replacing MP Ranjan Kumar, who held the post for the past four-and-a-half years.

Mr. Ranjan Kumar said that he submitted his resignation almost four months ago. “I have been the president for four-and-a-half years, 18 months more than the usual tenure of three years. After my resignation, I was appointed as the national coordinator of the SC department of the All India Congress Committee,” he told The Hindu.

Mr. Ranjan Kumar was recently in the news when he disclosed that he had already filed a complaint with the Greater Chennai Police in November 2024 against Gem Granites owner R. Veeramani and his associate Shanthi for allegedly sexually abusing minors.
