The Theertham manicarian, the sacred tank of the Sri Rangathaperumal temple in Thiruneermai nearby, is in poor condition. The devotees complained that in the last month the water level was covered with something green. The temple is one of the 108 Divya Desams dedicated to Perumal and the tank contains four Theerthams: Ksheera Pushkarani, Karunya Pushkarani, Varuna Pushkarani and Siddha Pushkarani.
A devotion who refused to be named, said people were bathed in the water. Much here also wash clothes. The gate is sometimes not properly closed. The garbage is sitting around the Holy Tank. Lacks maintenance. Bad elements also consume alcohol near the tank and leave bottles and cups of broken glass. Police do not take steps to stop such behavior, and therefore the locals are afraid to come to the temple after dark. ”
On Tuesday, the members of the Association for awareness of the awareness of people organized protest and urged the local authorities of the MLA and the temple to clean the tank. Social activist V. Santhanam said the cruise was carried out in the tank a few years ago. “It’s a pretty big reservoir. We’re sad when we see the condition of the tank,” he said.
The official sources in the temple, which are under the department of the Hindu religious and charity department, said they were aware of the condition of the reservoir and correct measures will soon be taken.
Ecologist Sultan Ahmed Ismail said that such a green at the top of the water could be any water plant such as ducks or algae. Normally, when there is water and if it contains nutrients, such plants will grow in the presence of sunlight. Sometimes water can carry nutrients. Usually in temple tanks people put grains, inflated rice and even jaggers, which can cause eutrophication that naturally supports vegetation. Water under vegetation may not have enough oxygen, which means that any living organisms such as fish can die. Periodic cleaning of upper water and aeration mechanisms such as a fountain can recycle it and can help maintain its sacredness, purity and purity, explained.
