
Pakistan is ready to chair the UN Taliban Committee of the UN Safety Council in 2025 and will also serve as the Vice -Chairman of the Fifteen -member Committee on Terrorism. In 2025, Pakistan will be chaired by the 1988 Taliban Committee, which enforces measures such as asset freezing, travel bans and weapons embargo on individuals and entities associated with the Taliban that endanger the peace, stability and security of Afghanistan.
Guyana and Russia will serve as vice -chairmen of the committee.
According to the UN Security Council, Denmark will be chaired by the ISIL and Al-Qaeda Safety Committee, while Russia and Sierra Leone will be vice-chairmen for 2025.
Algeria will be chaired by the Committee against Terrorism 1373, while France, Pakistan and Russia will be vice -chairmen.
Pakistan is a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 15-fields for the period 2025–26.
In addition to the Chairman of the Taliban Committee, Pakistan will also be co -chairman of informal working groups about documentation and other procedural issues and general issues of UN sanctions.
