Two girls from Pudukottai were sexually assaulted in Velankanni cottage; two men arrested

Two 15-year-old girls from Pudukottai, who left their homes after a disagreement with their parents, were sexually assaulted by two men at a cottage in Velankanni on Thursday (October 22, 2026). Police arrested the man under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO).

According to police sources, the girls reached Velankanni on Wednesday (October 21) for a search. They were reportedly looking for work in shops near the Velankanni church. The traders then alerted Singappen Special Task Force personnel who inquired about the plight of the girls.

During the investigation, the girls reportedly said that they left home after a disagreement with their parents. They further claimed that two men approached them while they were on the beach, promised to buy them food and then sexually assaulted them in the hut.

The accused have been identified as Ajay, 26, and Vishal, 23, both from Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala. They were arrested by the Velankanni police under the POCSO Act.

The girls were handed over to the Velankanni police. According to the police, measures are being taken to send them back to their parents after a medical examination.
