The Ride-Hailing Platform Rapido platform is under fresh control from users to introduce a fee that is penalized by passengers if their driving is delayed by operation. Several commuters in Bengalur have identified this new fee collected after 10 minutes of delay as a result of operation as unfair and exploitation, especially when traffic constipation is out of the passenger control.
According to the new call in the application that users saw, Rapido points out during the journey that “heavy traffic means more time for your captain”. The application offers the first 10 minutes of delay while driving free of charge, but then, according to users, charge 0.50 GBP per minute up to 30 GBP. This step comes even if the company, along with other bike riding platforms, is under the Central Consumer Protection Scanner (CCPA) to promote passengers to offer preliminary tips during the driving process.
Pavatho Rao, a Hebal resident, traveled a car from Shanthinagar to the Gutahalli Palace on Monday when it was hit by another fee for being stuck in operation. “Although I have no problem with fair compensation for drivers, accounting customers for operation seems to be blackmail. I have already chosen a tip of 40 for my ride because it was a top hour. The traffic is not under my control and I do not agree to pay for it,” Hindu said.
Another fraud?
This is not an isolated case for Sanjay Kumar from Indianagar. “Over the last two days, I have been charged by 18-20 ₹ more than the initial fare estimate. On Monday I was charged 26 GBP. When I contacted customer care, they said it was due to the duration of driving, not a distance. Is it a fraud?
Similarly, Deeksha M. of Lakkasandra said she was announced in the middle of the ride that it would be more charged after being stuck in top operation. “That’s just crazy. Not only will we arrive late to work and pay a fine in the office, but now I also pay for a delay that I haven’t caused. I have already added a backup tip for 40 GBP to even get a ride. This is not a good development.
Exceeding; Nothing has changed
The timing of the new Rapido policy is remarkable. May 21, Minister of Pralhad’s consumer Joshi, ordered CCPA to issue a notice of preliminary procedures that were invited at the time of the reservation, a place after driving. A day later, he confirmed that similar announcements were considered for Ola and Rapido.
Although the application for hailing was replied by tuning their language from “add tip” to “add more (voluntary) to find a ride,” little has changed on Earth. The commuting claims that the problem has simply developed, and companies now find new ways to monetize traffic delay.
The Hindu approached Rapido for the reaction to the latest accusations, but the society refused to express itself.
