On Tuesday, the President of Congress YSRC (YSRCP) Jagan Mohan Reddy said on Tuesday to Andhra Pradesh the collapse of law and order and invites people to observe 4 June as “betrayal”, in protest against the government “failure to meet election promises and abuse of police power”.
Responing the media after meeting with the families of three young people who were reportedly subjected to excesses by the police in Tenali, Mr. Reddy condemned the “college behavior” of the police.
He claimed that young people – Rchessh, Victor and Karimullah – were defeated and ashamed in a public perspective together with their families. The fees were not framed only after video clips of the incident began to orbit on the social media, he said.
The youth, who belonged to Mangalagiri, included working professional, junior advocate and mechanic. On the previous occasion, they were reportedly attacked to interrogate Constable constable. The incident allegedly occurred on 25 and 26 April.
“Cases, if existed, should be included in the courts,” Mr. Reddy said, adding that the police had no power to act as a judge or executioner. The victims belonged to Dalit and minority communities, said, claiming that noisy leaves were open after the fact to justify the action.
They point out that prominent political personalities, including the main Minister N. Chandrababa Naida, faced several legal cases, but were not subject to similar treatment. “Is it the justice standard?” he asked.
The former main minister also criticized the alleged role of the police in supporting activities related to alcohol, sand, mining and clubs. “The police are used as collection agents for TDP leaders,” he said, claiming that false cases were given without distinction against former ministers, legislators and YSRCP workers.
Similar incidents of alleged police excesses emerged in DachePalli and Rajamahendraram, he said. He also referred to cases concerning Social Media activists Sudha Rani and Krishhnava, who were reportedly taken from one police station to another and reserved in several cases.
“Such incidents become the norm. The constitution seems to have been replaced by a red book,” he said.
