India vs New Zealand Live Score, 1st T20I: Shreyas Iyer eyes India’s winning start in T20I series – The Tech Word News

India vs New Zealand Live Score, 1st T20I: India will look to overcome travel fatigue and enter their five-match T20I series against New Zealand in the opening match on Thursday. Led by Shreyas Iyer, the visitors will depend on their strong batting line-up, but the relatively inexperienced squad has barely two days to rest, acclimatise and train.

India have won their last two T20I series in New Zealand and will be looking to continue that run. However, the pace-friendly conditions and the absence of key players could make the opening match a tough test.

India’s last T20I match on New Zealand soil was in 2022 at Napier. The rain-affected game ended in a tie according to the Duckworth-Lewis method. However, India went on to win the series after claiming victory in the only match unaffected by bad weather.

Only four batsmen from the current Indian squad have previously played T20Is in New Zealand. They are Captain Iyer, Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube.

Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma and 15-year-old sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi bring plenty of firepower to the batting line-up. However, they will have to adapt to inclement weather and conditions that can help the bowlers.

For Iyer, the series offers an opportunity to prove himself in tough overseas conditions. His tenure as captain began with defeats in Ireland and England.
