Delhi HC asks Center to review Abhijit Dipke’s plea to reinstate ‘mildly offensive’ X Cockroach Janata Party account | Today’s news
The Delhi High Court on Friday refused to immediately direct the recovery of Janata Party’s X cockroach account and issued a notice on its founder Abhijit Dipke’s plea.
The court directed the Review Committee of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeiTY) to look into Dipke’s case and granted him freedom to appear virtually.
He also found that the content on the page appeared “mildly offensive”.
“Senior advocate Akhil Sibal (appearing for the petitioner) submits that without hearing the petitioner, the stay order cannot be passed,” Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav said while issuing the notice under Live Law.
“The court finds that the submissions made by the parties will be reviewed after the counter-affidavit is filed. Let it be filed in four weeks,” he added.
