In a major Dasara gift to Singareni officers, the Telangana government fulfilled a long-pending demand by approving the revision of pay scales for the executive cadre employees of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) on Coal India lines. The decision, which was announced after the intervention of Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, is expected to benefit nearly 1,800 officers from the executive cadres of E-1 to E-7.
The management of Singareni on Monday evening (October 19, 2026) issued orders to implement the revised wage structure after securing approval from the company’s board of directors. The orders were issued by Director (Personnel) Gautam Potru.
According to the notification, the revised basic pay scales will be retrospectively effective from January 1, 2017. However, the financial benefits resulting from the revision will be applicable from September 25, 2026, the date the proposal was approved by the Singareni Board. Officers will start getting revised salaries from the October pay cycle.
Under the revised structure, the basic pay of E-1 cadre officers has been increased from ₹40,000 to ₹60,000, while E-2 officers will get ₹70,000 instead of ₹50,000. The pay for E-3 was revised from ₹60,000 to ₹80,000 and for E-4 from ₹70,000 to ₹90,000. E-5 officers will now draw a basic pay of ₹1,000 against the earlier ₹80,000. The pay scales of E-6 and E-7 cadres have been revised to ₹1.2 million from ₹90,000 and ₹1,000 respectively.
The decision follows demands raised by Singareni officers after Coal India approved a revised pay structure for its executives to even out disparities and align salaries with those of public sector undertakings in the Maharatna. Seeking parity, Singareni officers approached the state government and requested to introduce a similar structure in SCCL.
Responding to the request, Mr. Bhatti Vikramarka in July directed the Singareni management to speed up consideration of the proposal and ensure that the officers receive favorable reports before Dasara. Subsequently, a commission was established to study the problem and present recommendations. Based on the report of the committee and the approval of the board, the revised pay scales were settled.
Leaders of the Singareni Officers Association welcomed the decision and thanked Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka for keeping their commitment. Officers said the move will boost morale and motivate them to contribute more effectively to coal production, energy security and industrial growth of Telangana.
The pay revision is coming after the state government recently announced a ₹596 crore Dasara bonus for nearly 39,000 Singareni workers and employees. The government has also announced a bonus of ₹5,500 each for contract workers. With the latest salary revision for officers, the government has extended festival benefits to all major sections of the Singareni workforce, marking a significant boost in morale for the coal major and its employees.
