Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (Oct 20, 2026) termed “forces damaging the country, those dividing society and thinking hostile to Indian culture” as India’s three enemies and called on people and institutions to unite in the national interest.
“Forces that harm the honor and dignity of the nation, people who divide the society and a mindset that hates our culture are the enemies of the country,” he said while addressing a rally to celebrate Vijayadashami at the IP Ground in Delhi.
He urged the people to identify the enemies of the nation and defeat them.
Invoking the ideals of Lord Ram, Mr. Modi described Dasara as a symbol of the triumph of justice over evil. He called for a collective commitment to national interests, saying political differences should not stand in the way of protecting the country.
A call to unity
“Let our thoughts be aligned… all institutions of the nation, all political parties… let us stand together for the national interest. We must proceed in this very spirit, we must fight together against the enemies of the country,” he said.
The Prime Minister said India’s progress depends on people and institutions working together to protect the country’s values, heritage and social cohesion. He said that even in the face of major crises, citizens should not remain passive, but should recognize their abilities and work for solutions.
Reiterating his vision of a self-reliant and developed India, Mr. Modi urged the people to turn their determination into strength through hard work and faith in the country’s resources. Obstacles, he said, should not deter the nation from moving forward.
Emphasizing social justice and inclusive development, he said the welfare of the poor and disadvantaged remained a priority of his government. Referring to the concept of ‘Ram Rajya’, he said it represents a discrimination-free society where everyone has access to justice and equal opportunities.
He further emphasized that power should be exercised in the service of the people rather than as a means of control and that governance must focus on improving life and ensuring the public welfare.
