
Canada will host 2025 Group 7 (G7) Summit between June 15 and 17 – two years after the diplomatic ties of the Earth with India decreased over the killing of the Khalistan separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar on Canadian soil.
This year, the annual G7 leaders will take place in Cananasis, Alberta. While South Africa, Ukraine and Australia reportedly confirmed invitations from Canada, uncertainty appears over the presence of premiere of Narendra Modi at the upcoming summit.

G7 consists of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Great Britain and the USA. The President of the European Commission and several other nations is also expected to participate in the summit.
Will the PM Modi Summit participate in Canada?
There was no confirmation as to whether PM Modi would visit Canada at the summit in the middle of diplomatic tension.
However, reports suggest that it is unlikely to travel to the summit to the North American country. The Canadian spokesman G7 did not confirm the Times of India (TOI) late on Sunday if the PM modi is invited.
Toi said on Monday that “any invitation of eleven o’clock is unlikely that India would consider logistics restrictions, probably the efforts of separatists to disrupt the visit” and tense bilage bonds.

According to the Canad report, it did not officially announce the names of the guests’ leaders at the summit. But Canadian media claims that Ottawa has invited Australia, South Africa, Ukraine and Brazil.
PM modi has been invited to the summit of all G7 leaders since 2019. If the reports were true, it would be the first time that PM modi will not participate in the meeting of the economically advanced group of nations.
India-Canada bilateral tension
The ties between India and Canada intervened in September 2023, when Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau introduced the ties between the Indian government “agents” and Nijjar’s murder. India then rejected these claims as “absurd and motivated”.
Two years later, all eyes are on whether the new Canadian government, operated by Prime Minister Mark Carney, will expand the invitation of PM Modi to the summit G7. PM Modi and Carney committed themselves to improve bilateral bonds.
Groups Sikh say that Ottawa should not invite PM modi
The Canadian media announced that Sikh called Ottawa to “break the five -year tradition by not inviting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the G7 summit”.
The Sikh Federation, based in Toronto, said that Canada should retain any invitation “As long as India cooperates significantly with criminal crime investigations in Canada,” CBC News said.

Invite Canada PM modi? What did Trudeau say last year
Last year, the then Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was asked during a press conference if he invites PM Modi to the summit G7 next year. Trudeau seemed to have avoided the question and said, “I appreciate the zeal with which the Canadians are looking forward to next year G7.”
“However, Italy continues to be president of this G7 for the rest of this year and I look forward to working with Prime Minister Meloni and all my G7 partners about a wide range of questions we spoke about …” Trudeau said.
Trudeau’s statement came after he met PM modim on the edge of the G7 summit in Italy on Friday. The meeting held in southern Italy in Apulia was the first in the middle of tense diplomatic relations over pro-healistan extremism.
Summite G7 Leaders 2025: Which other countries have already invited Canada?
Global Affairs Canada did not publish the names of every leader Ottawa, who invited the G7 summit next month. However, these leaders are expected to attend a meeting:
