When is Eid Al-ADha 2025?
EID-AL-ADHA, EID AL-ADHA or BARIEID are one of the two Eids celebrated by Muslims. Celebrated 10. Zil-Hajj or Dhu al-Hijjah, the 12th month of Islamic or Lunar Calendar. Denotes the end of the annual pilgrimage Hajj and is also known as “the sacrifice of the victim”.
This year, Eid al-Aad falls on June 7 in India and June 6 in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries. The festival runs for three days.
Feast
The central ritual of offering the victim (qurbani) reminds of the willingness of the prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ismail as a test of his obedience to Allah.
As stated in the Qur’an, the prophet Ibrahim received a divine order in a dream that sacrificed his beloved son Ismael as a test of his faith. When Ibrahim prepared for the victim, Allah intervened and gave RAM to be sacrificed instead, which meant Ibrahim’s devotion and the submission of Allah’s will.
Thus, the victim on Eid al-Adha symbolizes the importance of faith, victims and obedience in Islam.
