As the Dussehra celebrations will attract large crowds, Ramesh said the Delhi Traffic Police has been fully deployed in areas likely to witness heavy footfall, including Hanuman Mandir and Delhi Gate.
“Ramlila events are being held at 43 places across the district and Durga Puja is being celebrated at 16 places. Police personnel have been deployed at all these places in the last nine days. Extensive arrangements have also been made for Dussehra tomorrow. Women have been deployed and we have also received support from CAPF (Central Armed Forces),” he said adding that additional security forces would be deployed tomorrow.

“A large turnout is expected and the event is being held at several locations across the Western Range. Due to this and keeping in mind the expected crowds and the sensitivity of the situation, appropriate arrangements have been made. There will also be considerable movement of VIPs in Dwarka district and other areas, so special measures have been put in place. The police department has various responsibilities, such as ensuring that it counters any criminal activity and does not conclude that the entire public will face any inconvenience to the festival. Peacefully and smoothly, that is our the main goal,” she said.
Also known as Vijayadashami, Dussehra signifies the triumph of good over evil. According to Hindu tradition, Lord Rama defeated Ravana on this day, giving rise to the tradition of burning effigies of Ravana. The festival also marks the culmination of the nine-day Navratri celebrations.
