Kolkata metro services were suspended for about 1 hour due to a technical glitch

Kolkata Metro services on the North-South Corridor were disrupted for about an hour on Monday (October 19, 2026) evening due to a technical glitch, officials said.

The disruption occurred at a time when a large number of people use the metro to visit Durga Puja pandals across the city on Maha Ashtami.

A technical problem occurred at Mahanayak Uttam Kumar station in Tollygunge around 5.31 pm, after which shortened services were operated between Majdan and Dakshineswar stations in both directions.

The issue was resolved and services were restored on the entire Blue Line section at 6:23 p.m., they added.
