Officials said the incident took place on Sunday (October 18, 2026) at Jama Masjid station. The central paramilitary force guarding the network released a 27-second video sourced from CCTV cameras on its X handle.

The CISF said in a post that they recovered an “unidentified semi-solid substance”, concealed in a stitched portion of the man’s underwear, kept in his bag. He was handed over to the local police for further investigation.

Officials added that they suspect the semi-solid substance could be gold paste, while a probe is underway to identify the object.

The edited video shows CISF security personnel searching the man. The man then lifted the bag from the X-ray baggage scanner and then quickly ran outside using the women’s pen.

A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) jawan who was tracking the man’s “suspicious” movements noticed him slipping out. The jawan dropped the metal detector he was holding and ran after him.

The man took the escalator to escape from the underground station while the jawan used the stairs and caught him at Gate No. 1 exit before bringing him back to the station along with a colleague who also joined the chase.

The force said the passenger claimed to be an NRI based in Kuala Lumpur.
