The Telelangana Prisons Department has launched an initiative of the “Planning of the Sentence” aimed at bringing a structured and reform approach to imprisonment throughout the state. This step, which was considered a pivot from punishment to rehabilitation, was ceremonially opened on Friday at the Conference Hall of the State Institute for Corrective Administration (Sica).
The CEO (DG) of prisoners and remedial services of Tymya Mishr called the planning of the sentence “a complex and personal strategy” that exceeds the management of prison. “It is a tool for rehabilitation of prisoners and their preparation for re -integrating into society,” DG said.
The program begins with an in -depth prisoner assessment to identify their risks, needs and requirements for rehabilitation. On this basis, the Prison Authorities will propose custom interventions that may include education, professional education, psychological counseling and even behavioral therapy. “Every prisoner has a unique background, whether it is trauma, addictive substances or lack of education. The sentence planning gives us a framework to deal with these questions directly,” DG Misra said.
Prison officials from all over the state, including representatives of superintendents, superintendents and higher officials, such as General Inspectors Y. Rajesh and N. Murali Babu, and Digs D. Srinivas (Hyderabad Range) and M. Sampath (Warangal Range), attended meetings and discussions. This event also emphasized the interdepartmental cooperation, responsibility and importance of empathy in remedial work.
